The Urban Infill was designed as a live / work space for an architect and small firm. The first two floors serve as office space for the firm, while the top floor acts as a residence.
Working with a restrictive, rectangular site of 20 ft x 80 ft, providing space and natural light becomes a challenge. By seperating the floor plan into two smaller rectangular units, I was able to rotate each about a central staircase / light-well. This created triangular gaps in the plan that were utilized as skylights and a service core. |
